The 26" O/U demi-bloc barrel set (Top in 30-30) is fitted with full length matted rib holding one standing one folding leaf rear sight and gold bead front with flip-up night bead. Maker's name and address is engraved on unmatted portion of rib and rear of rib is gold inlaid "W.A.R. Jr.". Rib has four holes drilled and tapped for scope base filled with plug screws. Barrels are stamped with German nitro proofs with 6.2/34 on bottom. Top marks inaccessible as top piece of forend can not be removed. Case hardened double Kirsten scallop back O/U boxlock action is fitted with non-automatic tang safety, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators and selective single trigger. Action is engraved with about 70% coverage scroll within geometric borders, trigger plate is engraved "MADE FOR" "BAKER & KIMBALL" "BOSTON". Matching trigger guard is steel. Steel trap capped pistol grip buttstock made of very nicely fiddle figured and lightly marbled European walnut measures 14-1/8" over engraved and ribbed steel trap buttplate (trap covers holes for spare cartridges; two of each caliber). Stock also features well shaped shadow line right hand cheek piece, point pattern checkering at grip and a sling loop on toeline that matches that soldered to bottom of barrel. Side panels are also checkered and have broad chip carved boarders. Matching three piece ejector forend has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: approx. 2-3/8". DAC: approx. 1-3/4". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14-1/8". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 12 oz. CONDITION: very good original. Barrels retaining about 70% original blue. Action has perhaps 20% case hardening color where protected and is mostly smooth silver. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish with many light marks and scratches. Checkering in moderately worn with heavy wear on forend. Bores are good to fine; mostly shiny with wear evident in top barrel. Mechanically good except top barrel ejector with not fire. An unusual and interesting combination gun made for the American market. The bottom of the forend has a 2 1/2" crack extending from the forend iron. (25-5013/MGM). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
